The missile (6) launching at supersonic speeds uses a pressure chamber (2) behind the firing tube (4), filled with a mixture of helium and air at a high pressure. A control valve system is used to obtain the required proportions of helium and air. The chamber is connected by a line supplied by two high pressure helium containers (12) and a compressed gas cylinder (16). Connected by branches to the line, between the containers and the pressure chamber is a manometer (20) and a pressure monitor (22). The helium is pref. held at a pressure of 182 bar and the air at a pressure of 135 bar.
