Yarn feed changeover mechanism for circular knitting machine - having parking position upstream of feed point for feeder crossover

A multiple yarn feeding device for double-cylinder knitting machines has from five to seven yarn guide arms each holding a different yarn, which can execute a swivelling motion from a rest position, through the feed position, to a parking position sufficiently far upstream of the feed position to clear the latch guard and the sinkers, to allow a cross-over of the guide-arm of the incoming yarn with that of the outgoing yarn. The feeder arms are moved by cams operating on rockers, and controlled by slots in a guide plate, such that the parking position is attained whilst the rocker is still on the rising of the cam. The superfluous motion of the rocker is absorbed by a spring, ensuring that the feeder arm is held firmly in the parking position, and its motion is strongly damped. This construction is simpler and more versatile than previous designs. It is less critical in its setting and allows the number of feeder arms to be increased.
