A distributor for the regulation of the flow and the pressure of gaseous and fluid media in clinical appts. has a distributor housing injection moulded from a synthetic polycarbonate such as 'Lexan' (RTM), through which there is a longitudinal flow passage. TBranches intersect the longitudinal flow passage in the same plane and at right angles whilst, at right angles to the branches and to the main flow passage, there are a number of bores through the points of intersection. Bushes of an elastic resilient material such as polyurethane are inserted into the bores. The bushes have openings aligned to the longitudinal flow passage and to the branches. Rotatable valve bodies are fitted in the bushes with channels which can be aligned to the branch passages, and the valve bodies can be withdrawn and reset in one of two different posns. in the bushes. In the first posn., stops allow the valve body to be turned through a limited distance. In the second posn., a stop locks the valve body securely against turning. For jointing connecting lines to the distributor, nipples with external screw threads in one piece with the housing project from it, and have bores continuing into the branch passages. The distributor is a flat block in which the channels are arranged and it has a flanged section by which it can be attached to a holder. Its surfaces have a series of longitudinal and transverse ribs in which the flow passages are located. The distributor can be cheaply produced by injection mouldings but has the same reliability, operational security and active life as the conventional expensive stainless steel distributor.
