The fuel can is circular in section and has a shallow depth. The can is fitted with a filler cap (12) and has an extendable pourer (16) which is pushed into the can when not in use. The can is shaped to match the profile of the spare wheel when this is stored horizontally in or under the boot of the vehicle. The container does not stnd proud of the top edge of the tyre (2), and the base allows the tightening of the locking bolt in the centre of the wheel hub. The top of the container has reinforcing ribs.
