New sulfonylhydrazones of 1,4 - dioxo - and 4 - oxoquinoxaline - 2 - carboxaldehyde and their application as agents antibacterial

The invention relates to novel chemical compounds which have useful antibacterial properties and are also of value in promoting animal growth and improving animal feed efficiency. More specifically, these new chemical compounds are certain sulfonylhydrazones of 1,4-dioxoquinoxaline-2-carboxaldehyde, 4-oxoquinoxaline-2-carboxaldehyde and certain derivatives thereof of formula (I): IMAGE (I) wherein A is N or N - O; R is a member selected from the group consisting of alkyl having from one to five carbon atoms, trifluoromethyl, phenyl, npahthyl, benzyl, styryl and phenyl substituted by up to two members selected from the group consisting of Cl, F, Br, CH3, CH3O and NO2; R1 is hydrogen or methyl; R2 is hydrogen or methyl; R3 is a 6- or 7-position substituent and is selected from the group H, Cl, CH3, CH3O, SO2NH2, SO2NHCH3 and SO2N(CH3)2; R4 is a 7- or 6-position substituent and is selected from the group H, Cl and CH3; with the proviso that when R4 is Cl or CH3, R3 and R4 are the same.
