A hot water central heating system s controlled by thermostatic valves. The thermostatic element is located at a distance from each radiator and is coupled to it via a flexible hydraulic transmission tube. A flexible hydraulic transmission tube (4) connects a control valve (18) on a radiator to a remote temperature sensor. The tube end (4a) is wound on a drum around an extension (21) to the sensor. A slot in the drum has flexible sides permitting entry of the tube. The sensor is attached to a bracket (2) for mounting on a wall and has a knob permitting the setting of a desired room temperature.
