Complexes of bentonite and sulphur di:oxide - for prevention of botrytis cinerea on grape vines

Compositions comprising a bentonite clay complex with a strong reducing agent are new. Used for prevention of Botrytis cinerea, esp. on grapes. The pref. reducing agent is sulphur dioxide, attached to the bentonite as a sulphite. Typically a montmorillonite clay is formed into an aqueous gel, stirred at 22-25 degrees C, and sulphur dioxide passed into the mixture. The product is then dried below 40 degrees C powdered or micronised, and may be applied as a powder or aqueous suspension.
