Production of a protein rich food from liquid dairy by-prods. contg. lactose and lactic acid, by cultivation, using continuous operation, of a lactose and lactic acid utilising strain of Trichosporon cutaneum yeast in a broth contg. the dairy by products and a utilisable source of nitrogen under aerobic conditions, maintaining the dissolved oxygen concn. at 10-50% of the satn. concn. Used as animal feed contg. 40-55wt. % of proteins, 10-20 wt.% ash and 3-5 wt.% of lipids based on the dry product.
