Railway track renovating machine control system - uses sensors providing control signals for cutting tool positioning jacks

The machine for renovating the base for railway tracks is automatically controlled so that the beam supporting the cutting tools is adjusted by jacks. Control is provided for transverse and longitudinal slope of the tools and of their level against a reference. A cutting tool (8) is supported from a beam (7) supported by bogies (2, 4). A platform (23) supported on jacks (24) supports further jacks (11) and a ball and socket joint (10) so as to control the height of one end of the beam from a clinometer (26) detector. Photocells (36) receive light (35) from a generator (34) to detect deviations in height from zero position. Deviation signals control a distributor (37) powering jacks (12) to control the beam height.
