Short circuit protection for indicator lamps - has thermal trips and relay to give protection under fault condition and ensure flashers are returned to inoperative condition

The short circuit protection device is for a control system for vehicle direction indicator lamps even with trailers. In each line there is a thermal trip. In the case of short circuit a self holding relay is actuated to isolate the controls. The controls remain isolated until the direction switch has been placed in the neutral position. The closed contacts of the relay feed the flasher section from the battery. A resistor ensures that on closing the trip the flasher section is at rest.
