A cylindrical casing (1) is assembled from upper and lower halves (2, 3). The flanges of the halves grip the edge (5) of a flexible membrane (6) whose central portion is held at the top of an inverted cylinder (8) by a plate (9). The cylinder (8) is connected by a stem (13) to the piston (14) of a pneumatic cylinder (12) which is screwed to the top of the casing (1). A tap (21) at the bottom of the casing is connected to the sump to be emptied and a second tap (22) is used to discharge oil drawn into the casing. The pumping action is performed by movement of the inner cylinder (8) by the pneumatic piston (14).
