Column for sepg. gaseous mixtures by fractionation at low temp. comprises two superposed compartments with cylindrical walls interconnected by a vapouriser-condenser (I) vaporising the liq. from the upper compartment and condensing the vapours from the lower compartment. (I) has a body in the form of a parallelepiped with vertical lateral walls comprising an assemblage of plates forming flat passages parallel and adjacent to one another, one set for vaporisation, the other for condensn. The inlet sectons of the condensn. passages open into the head of the lower compartment by an extension tube descending vertically situated vertically below the body of (I). The body has its longitudinal edges close to a wall of the compartment in which it is placed. Arrangement improves the compactness of (I) by eliminating the pipes carrying fluids in the gaseous state and therefore of large dia. in the space between (I) and column.
