Mixed oxy:sulphide of lanthanum and silver - exhibiting ionic conductivity and specific sensitivity to sulphide and silver ions

摘要

Mixed oxysulphide of La and Ag is new and has formula LaOAgS. It has a tetragonal crystal structure with a =4.066+-0.001 Angstroms and C = 9.095+-0.001 Angstroms. It has a density of 6.30 g/cc. The cpd. is prepared by heating to 580-640 deg.C a mixt. of lanthanum oxysulphide (LaO)2S and silver sulphide Ag2S in the presence of a trace of iodide. The cpd. exhibits ionic conductivity and finds use as specific electrodes for detection or measurement of ionic or electrochemical phenomena, esp. specific for Ag+ and S2- ions.
