The cutting tool, particularly a circular saw blade or disc-type milling cutter, has a chip-divider groove in each main tooth clearance face, emanating from a front and/or chip face and leading into it, the grooves in adjacent teeth being offset to alternate sides. Between the front (5) and/or chip (8) face and the main clearance face (11) the groove (14) has a curved bottom (15). The maximum ratio of groove depth to length can be 1:6, the maximum depth being 0.4mm.
