The static assembly allows the flow of liquid to be divided so that samples proportional to the flow volume may be taken. This allows pollution in industrial effluent to be measured. The tube (10) in the top (11) of a cylindrical tank (12) allows the liquid to flow in onto a conical distributor (13) coaxial with the tube and tank. The distributor is mounted on a cylindrical support (15) by a screw (16). Directly under the distributor is a sampling slot comprising two flat blades (19B) forming an inverted V shape. This is mounted above the sampling tube (20) through which the sample flows to an external container. The base of the tank is inclined to cause the fluid to discharge via pipework (22). A blower tube (27) connected to a compressed air source allows fibres and solid materials to be blown off the distributor.
