The table is enlarged by plates (2) which are folded on the base plate (1). The folding plates (2) are divided into geometrical elements which vary in shape depending on the original shape of the table, triangles (4) for a square shape or trapeziums (5,7) for a square or hexagonal shape. The central part (7,8) of the table is a reduction of the base. Each geometrical element folds through 180 degrees around a hinge (9) and when open rests on bars (10). The first element is opened by a tongue (11), the others being opened by pulling on their edges.
