A parasol is made using a fabric which is transparent to 20-90%, pref. 40-50% of incident solar UV radiation at 315-400mm, to allow development of a sun tan while providing protection from the glare of direct visible sunlight. Pref. the parasol is made from 420 denier (470 dtex) filaments of polyamide-6 as a fabric of about 250g/2 with 22 filaments/cm warp and 15-17 filaments/cm weft. The fabric is coated on one face with an acrylic resin and impregnated with a silicone resin.
