The vehicle windscreen wiper assembly has a single blade support and imparts a non circular trajectory to points on the blade, pivoted on the support. It has a looped chain, an oscillating rod on a fixed pivot, a blade support and two equal length jaws. The jaws are pivotted on the rod and the support. The rod movement is driven by a Stephenson six link mechanism producing reciprocating movement. The output of this mechanism is assembled with the rod pivot on the body.
