The invention relates to 2,5-bis (2,2,2-trifluoroethoxy) acetophenone. This product is obtained by acetylation, in the presence of a Lewis catalyst, of 1,4-bis (2,2,2-trifluoroethoxy) benzene, the latter having preferably been obtained by reaction of 1,4-dibromo or 1,4-dihydroxybenzene on an alkylating agent of the formula CF 3 -CH 2 OA wherein A is -SO 2 CF 3 where an alkali metal. 2,5-Bis (2,2,2-trifluoroethoxy) acetophenone is an interesting intermediate for the synthesis of 2,5-bis (2,2,2-trifluoroethoxy) -N- ( 2-Piperidylmethyl) benzamide, which is a known antiarrhythmic drug. / P
