The cell is constituted by a cylindrical body divided into two separate superposed chambers by a horizontal partition. The chamber in the lower part constitutes a reserve of active fauna receiving the solid and liq. effluents. The chamber in the upper part constitutes the oxygenation and decantation zone. The different stages of transfer of the effluents from the lower to the upper chamber, oxygenation of the liq. contg. the activated sludges and decantation of the liq. in the upper chamber and discharging of the purified clear liq. under pressure to the exterior to a rejection point remote from the place of utilisation, are effected by submerged pumps controlled by detectors of level and of safety associated with temporising devices. The incorporation of the device in a small vol. with the structure of a transportable building ensures total mobility of the latter while retaining a reserve of active materials sufficient for its re-use in another place after a relatively long immobile period.
