Fixing of hook fastener to e.g. chipboard panel - uses blind bored dovetail section hole to locate cement in which hook tail is embedded

The process is used in the fixing of a hook fastener (4) to the rear face of e.g. a chip board cladding panel (1), using a blind under-reamed hole (2) or socket. Once bored, the socket is cleaned by a compressed air blast and water jet, and is then filled with a liquid binder (3). A hook fastener (4,5) of an 'S' or a fish tailed staple shape is now partially embedded in the binder before it sets. Suitable binders (3) include mineral or organic mortars, semi-organic mortars, glues and resins, and the hole may have a dovetail cross section with the lesser parallel side forming the inlet.
