The microprocessor based sequential controller provides an integrated unit with multiple input and output facilities and a manual keyboard entry system. The central processing unit comprises a microprocessor (1), programme memory (2), and a clock (3). An input selector (4) and an output controller (5) operating under control of the microprocessor, collect data from required transducers in the physical system and operate selected elements of the mechanism. A timer (6) provides timing, either of operations, or between operations. The addresses of the various functions, the required function and its timing are sequentially entered at a keyboard (12) which allows automatic operation to be overriden for data entry or alteration, and once entry is complete, automatic execution of the entered sequence occurs.
