Hand-knitting needle has coloured markings - to assist stitch-counting

A hand-knitting needle supports a series of spacings or markings along its length to assist accurate stitch counting. In the example, a series of coloured rings all of the same colour are two cm. wide, and spaced apart at two cm. intervals. The stitches on the needle may thus be allotted to the series of rings and spaces, and the total number of stitches is arrived at by multiplication of the number of coloured and uncoloured sections with the number of stitches allotted to each section. Extra remaining stitches may be added in afterwards.
