Granulator with multiple cylindrical hammers working in parallel - for efficient and positive entrainment of light or bulky plastics profiles

A granulator comprises at least two contra-rotating cylindrical multi-blade hammers mounted in a common chamber and discharging via mesh screens parallel to and concentric with the underside of each rotor. Pref. an intermediate partition, pref. incorporating fixed knives, divides material entering the lower half of a rotor chamber. Other fixed (stator) blades are mounted in the sidewalls of an enclosure. The screens discharge to a common receiver. Esp. useful for chopping or granulating bulky materials such as tape or film, which are entrained by the convergeant nip effect between the rotors. More efficient power./wt. ratio and entrains material more positively than use of a larger single cylindrical rotor and screen to obtain the same capacity.
