The water pump is used at all depths and comprises an endless belt of absorbent material. The belt passes over a manually driven wheel (2) at the top, and over a tensioning pulley (5) at the well bottom. Water is absorbed by the material, rises with the belt, and is squeezed out by a pinch roller (13). The water is collected from a spout (14). The belt passes over the drum and passes back down the shaft. The rising and descending belt halves are carried in a plastic tube. The pump operates in very low water levels.
