A multiple channel chart recorder with a common writer has different coloured pens fixed on a pen head for the different channels. It reduces time for the colour change-over. The head carries two or more pens which are activated piezoelectrically and have spray nozzle ink guns. The axes (a,b,c) of the spray nozzles, which are at a distance from the recording plane, are either parallel to each other or intersect at a point (A) in the recording plane. There are three nozzles emitting yellow, red and blue primary ink colours. Individual channel colours are produced by a mixing process involving offset pen activation in time and space.
