Regeneration plant for foundry moulding sand - where air streams are used to drive sand against impact plate to break up agglomerates and remove fines

The moulds are fed by a conveyor onto a vibrating foundry knock-out grid, so the used sand falls through a sieve into a container. The container is fed with compressed air, so the sand is driven up a pipe and impinges on an impact plate, so agglomerates are split by shock and mutual abrasion. The sand next flows through a funnel, and meets a stream of air removing fine particles of hardened resin etc. The sand next drops onto a vibrating sieve, so coarse material is removed, and the regenerated sand falls into a storage hopper, from which it is returned by a conveyor to moulding machines, etc. Used for complete removal of unwanted particles, esp. particles of hardened chemical binders.
