The collector is incorporated onto a structural wall (13) and consists of an insulating panel (14) between the structural wall and absorbant outer panel (2). This panel is of a dark colour and coated with a layer of transparent or translucent granules to create a greenhouse effect when subjected to solar radiation. Air is allowed to circulate by thermosyphonic action around the cavities (16,18) between the three elements. The effect is to transfer the heat to the structural wall (13). The circulation is regulated by thermostatically controlled dampers.
