Intra=ocular implant in form of glass lens - has three holes equally spaced around periphery for attachment of suspension lines

The artificial crystalline lens has three spaced holes formed around the edge to which three radial lines are attached. The lines are loops of a fine section biocompatible threads and are fixed to the lens by knots. The end of each line lies on a circle of which the dia. is equal to or slightly less than the diameter of the inside of the eye in the plane of the crystalline lens i.e. at the base of the iris. Pref. the holes in the lens have a dia. of between 100 and 200 microns and the dia. of the suspension lines, which may be made of stainless steel, is between 20 and 35 microns.
