Fruit drying chamber containing stationary carriages - uses reversible hot air circulating system including control of adjustable double air flaps

The method of drying fruit which dehydrates the fruit, uses a drying chamber into which carriages (1) loaded with the fruit are wheeled, and hot air is circulated around and through them. Above the carriages is a heater (9) and a fan (8) which circulates the air, and adjustable grids (10,11) in the roof control discharge of heated air and entry of fresh air. To reduce fuel consumption, the fan is periodically reversed. The grids are also regulate to correspond to the different directions of flow of heated air. The whole is controlled by an automatic timing system combined with thermostatic control. In another design, the control grids, which are each side of the heater and fan, control entry into two ducts communicating with a heat exchanger.
