The device for marking technical and documentary references has the details entered on movable panels and centralised in reference grids on a support. The support is made of transparent material, possibly to allow the return of coded cases to an original transparency. Alternatively, a pre-coded module can be moved across a window opening. The movable panels can be T-shaped cards with a transverse slit in which can be placed a squared sheet. The support is a sheet of transparent plastics with square grid markings on it as desired.
