METHOD OF REMODELLING EXISTING TANKER INTO DOUBLE- BOTTOMED TANKER

PURPOSE:To remodel the existing tanker into a double-bottomed tanker by temporarily drawing ut the upper hull out of the dock of the hull divided into upper and lower hulls within the dock, and bonding the inner bottom plate to the upper surface of the lower hull. CONSTITUTION:The existing tanker 1 is drawn into the dock 2, and the vessel bottom is cut horizontally along the cutting line thereby to cut the vessel into a upper hull 4 and a lower hull 3. Then, a float 5 is attached to the upper hull 4 and water is poured into the dock 2, the upper hull is separated and caused to float, and once drawn out of the dock 2. By extracting water within the dock 2, the inner bottom plate 6 is bonded to the upper surface of the lower hull 3, and water is poured again into the dock 2 and the upper hull 4 is drawn into the dock 2. Then, extraction of water within the dock 2 is performed, and the upper hull 4 is placed on the inner bottom plate 6 to be bonded thereto, thereby to finish the remodelling operation.
