PURPOSE:To enable to remove the soot on the heating surface while the device is kept in operation by a method wherein water on the like in jet form is jetted in the combustion exhaust gas with pressurized air. CONSTITUTION:When the pressurized air mixed with the cold or hot water is jetted into the gas of the heat exchanger 1 in the form of jet fluid, the soot adhered on the heating surface 15 and the like of the heat exchanger 1 is removed by separation due to the thermal impulse and abrupt expansion impulse generated by the vaporization of the water by contacting with the gas and further due to the impulsive force of the pressurized air itself and as well as the removed soot is discharged by the jetting pressure of the pressurized air to the outside. Consequently, the separation and removal of the soot is possible while the device is kept in operation.
