PURPOSE:To maintain adequate cooling and to produce an amorphous metallic material of good quality by suppressing the suspended solid contents and ion components in cooling fluid to trace amts. in a prescribed range and assuring the cleanliness of the heat transfer surface of a cooling drum. CONSTITUTION:In a body A of a producing device, molten metal 3 is injected into between a pair of cooling drums 4, 4' which revolve at a high speed, through a nozzle 2, whereby it is quickly cooled and an amorphous metallic material 5 is produced. Cooling water is supplied from a reservoir tank 6 to the drums 4, 4' through a pipeline (a1) by means of a circulation pump 7. After cooling the drums, the cooling water flows through a pipeline (a2) and is cooled by a cooler 9, thence it returns into the tank 6. Part of the cooling water passes through a pipeline (d) branched from the line (a1), and is purified in a cooling fluid purifier B consisting of a prefilter 13, ion exchangers 14a, 14b, a regenerating chemical liquid tank 15, etc., whereby the quality of =5ppm total suspended solid contents and =10muOMEGA/cm electric conductivity is maintained.
