PURPOSE:The titled fertilizer, containing a condensate of beta-methylmercaptopropionaldehyde with urea as an active constituent, having improved slow-acting property, and effective for crops requiring the fertilizer effect for a long term. CONSTITUTION:A slow-acting nitrogenous fertilizer containing a condensate of beta-methylmercaptopropionaldehyde as an aldehyde with urea as an active constituent. The molar ratio between the beta-methylmercaptopropionaldehyde to the urea is preferably 1:(1-3), and both are adjusted to a pH of 2-6.8 with hydrochloric acid, sulfuric acid, etc. and reacted at 30-80 deg.C.
