PURPOSE:The titled remedy, consisting of a specific substituted naphthylmethyl propiolate as an active constituent, and having a slight acute toxicity without irritant action and making patients feed a pain in the coated affected part or giving out an offensive smell. CONSTITUTION:A remedy for the superficial mycosis containing a compound of formulaI(X is H, halogen or alkyl; Y is H or halogen; Z is H or alkyl), e.g. 1-naphthylmethyl propiolate, as an active constituent. The remedy as an alcoholic agent or lotion prepared by dissolving or dispersing the compound in a liquid carrier or an ointment prepared by mixing or adsorbing the compound in a solid carrier is applied to the affected part. The amount of the active constituent in the remedy is preferably 0.5-3wt%. The compound of formulaIis obtained by reacting a halogenomethylnaphthalene of formula II (A is halogen) with an alkali metallic propiolate of formula III (M is alkali metal) in the presence of an organic solvent.
