POROUS SYNTHETIC VINYL FIBER HAVING WATER AND MOISTURE ABSORBING PROPERTY

PURPOSE:The titled fibers, consisting of a vinyl polymer containing a monomer having hydroxyl, amido groups, etc. and cellulose acetate or a polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) derivative, and having improved water and moisture absorbing properties and gloss, and suitable for sportswear, etc. CONSTITUTION:(A) 50-98pts.wt. solution of a vinyl polymer, preferably an acrylic polymer, containing 40wt% or more acrynitrile, and obtained by copolymerizing a monomer having hydroxyl, amino group, group contaiing quaternary ammonium salt, carboxylic acid (salt) or sulfonic acid (salt) group, e.g. acrylic acid, in an amount of 40mg equivalents or more based on 100g polymer is mixed with (B) 2-50pts.wt. solution of cellulose acetate having an acetyl group content of 48-63% and an average polymerization degree of 50-300 or a polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) derivative, e.g. polyvinyl acetal, in a homomixer, etc. to give a spinning solution, which is then extruded into a coagulating bath. The resultant fibers are then drawn to give the aimed fibers having a void of 0.05-0.75cm3/g.
