PURPOSE:To prepare a starch from milo grains, by dipping the raw material milo grains in an agent solution, swelling the grains, and sterilizing, removing the tannin and decolorizing the grains, grinding the grains, finely pulverizing the grains to form a starchy emulsion, and removing the skin, shell, embryo buds, etc. from the emulsion. CONSTITUTION:Raw material milo grains are dipped and swollen in a dipping tank 2, and then subjected to the sterilization, removal of tannin and decolorization. The dipping solution is then subjected to the lactic acid fermentation and fed to a fermenting tank 38. The raw material grains are fed through a service tank 3 to a grinder 4, mixed with water, contained in a tank 5, and then separated into a sludge and a solution in a cyclone 6. The resultant sludge is then passed through a screen 7 and ground in a grinder 8 to the third grinder 12 repeatedly. Skin, shell pieces embryo buds, etc. are removed from the starchy emulsion in a tank 16 by a screen 17, passed through a tank 18, etc. and fed to a stock solution tank 24 to separate proteins in flow tanks 25 and 26. The resultant starchy emulsion is washed with water in a belt filte 34, dehydrated in a dehydrating machine 36 and stored.
