PURGING RECUPERATIVE GAS FURNACE IN VERTICAL COKE OVEN

PURPOSE:To prevent reduction of calorific value and amt. of recovered gas and deterioration of coke, by adjusting a position for the introduction of a purging gas and preventing flue gas from mixing with the recovered gas and circulation gas from dissipating. CONSTITUTION:During turning from a combustion stage into a gas-transfer stage, recuperator outlet gas is introduced into a separate heat recovery apparatus located outside a circulation gas system, recovering sensitive heat, and then circulation gas is introduced into the recuperator 17 or 25, expelling purging gas remaining in the recuperator, until heating gas i.e., flue gas remaining in recuperator 17 or 25 is sufficiently expelled. During turning from a gas-transfer stage into a combustion stage, the recuperator outlet is introduced into the top end of an overhead gas cooler 11 located over the coke oven and then the circulation gas, i.e., flue gas is introduced into the recuperator 17 or 25, expelling remaining purging gas until a gas to be heated, i.e., circulation gas remaining is sufficiently expelled.
