PREPARATION OF CONCENTRATED PIGMENT SLURRY

PURPOSE:To prepare a pigment slurry having high solid content, by mixing a wet cake of titanium dioxide pigment with a specific amount of a dried powdery pigment, thereby effectively utilizing the water in the wet cake to the slurrying process while suppressing the increase of the slurry viscosity. CONSTITUTION:The wet cake of titanium dioxide pigment having a solid content of 40-70wt% and obtained from the finishing state of a titanium dioxide pigment production process, is mixed with a dried pigment (e.g. calcium carbonate) of 0.2- 30mu diameter, in the presence of a dispersing agent such as sodium polyacrylate, etc. to obtain the objective slurry. The weight ratio of the dried pigment added to the slurry to the solid content of the wet cake is 0.3-3, and the total solid content of the resultant slurry is adjusted to 65-85wt%. USE:Suitable for the transportation of a high solid content slurry.
