Fluid slurry fuels were prepared, containing 50 to 60 percent by-weight of boron powder of 1-micron average particle size in JP-4 and JP-5 fuels. The boron-hydrocarbon mixtures were fluidized by means of glycerol sorbitan laurate, a surface-active agent, and stabilized with small amounts of aluminum octoate, a gelling agent. Duplicate batches prepared with identical materials on the same day had closely similar properties.nThe useful life of a slurry is approximated by the age at which the settled portion of the slurry can no longer be readily redispersed. Sat¬isfactory stability for up to 6 months was observed for several slurries, but since some of these slurries were still in a satisfactory physical state at the time of publication of this report, the maximum total useful life was not determined.
