PURPOSE:To make stable coal feed possible by controlling a coal feeder on the basis of an electric signal outputted as a signal of difference between a computed coal feed rate and a pattern signal. CONSTITUTION:A pattern signal is set by coal feed rate pattern signal 22. The total wt. of hopper 5 including wt. of coal detected by load cell 19 is detected by coal feed rate detector 20 and the value detected is inputted into coal feed rate computer 21. A quantity of coal fed per hr is computed by time differentiation. The value computed is compared with said patter signal by coal feed rate comparator 23. A signal, which controls coal feeder 9 in the direction of decrease in coal feed rate when said computed value is larger than the pattern signal and in the direction of increase in coal feed rate when the value is smaller than the pattern signal, is transmitted to coal feed controller 24 and coal is fed according to the signal.
