Controlling coal dust gasifier - by gasification zone pyrometer adjusting coal dust feed rate

The feed rate of coal dust to a coal gasification reactor is controlled as a function of the temp. in the gasification zone, keeping the admission rate of the gasifying medium constant. One or more radiation pyrometers are the pref. instruments for the temp. measurement. This makes it possible to maintain an optimum temp. in the gasification zone without having to measure the coal dust feed rate accurately. Damage to the reactor walls and the cooling system by uneven temp. distribution is eliminated.
