摘要

PURPOSE:To prepare a surface-modified amorphous mineral fiber useful as a reinforcing agent for thermoplastic resin, by bonding a vinyl-containing organic acid to the surface of an amorphous mineral fiber prepared from a molten glass containing an alkaline earth metal oxide. CONSTITUTION:The objective amorphous mineral fiber having modified surface can be prepared by bonding an organic acid having a vinyl group [e.g. (meth) acrylic acid, maleic acid, etc.] to the surface of an amorphous mineral fiber prepared from a molten glass containing 20-50wt% of an alkaline earth metal as oxide (e.g. slag wool prepared from blast furnace slag). A resin composition having excellent physical properties such as tensile strength, impact strength, flexural strength, etc. can be obtained by mixing 5-85wt% of the surface-modified amorphous mineral fiber with 95-15wt% of a thermoplastic resin under heating.
