PURPOSE:To remove soil and sand in a ground which is too soft to withstand the operation of a land excavator thereon, by a method wherein an artificial pond is constructed in a spot adjoining a soft ground area, a floating conveyor is moored in the artificial pond, and a grab dredger is connected to the conveyor so that it can move in the longitudinal direction thereof. CONSTITUTION:Soil and sand in a soft ground area M is excavated by a grab bucket 13 of an excavator 11. When soil and sand, ranging within an operation area of a boom 12 for charging the excavated soil and sand into a hopper 14, is removed, a grab dredger 10 moves along a guide rail 20 on a floating conveyor to start excavation again. Mud, charged into the hopper 14, is conveyed by a conveyor belt 1, and is charged into a hopper of a kneader 5.
