ABSORBEFACIENT FOR PROMOTING ABSORPTION THROUGH RECTUM, BASE CONTAINING THE SAME, AND AGENT FOR RECTAL INFUSION

PURPOSE:To provide an absorbefacient capable of sufficiently increasing the concentration of pharmacologically active substance in blood, without stimulating the rectum and damaging the rectal mucosa, by compounding mandelic acid, phenyllactic acid, etc. CONSTITUTION:The titled absorbefacient is prepared by compounding the compound of formula[R1 is aryl or aralkyl which may have a substituent group (OH, lower alkoxy, or lower alkyl); R2 is H or lower aklyl]or its pharmacologically permissible salt. The absorbefacient is added to the agent for rectal application, e.g. suppository for anus, soft capsule medicine prepared by encapsulating the suspension or ointment of the absorbefacient dispersed in an oily liquid base in a soft capsule, etc. The amount of the compound is pref. 2-13wt% based on the base and 3-10wt% based on the whole composition.
