PROCESSING OF BAMBOO LEAF AND OAK LEAF, ETC.

PURPOSE:To obtain a leaf of bamboo grass, oak, etc., having excellent storability and releasability, and suitable for the direct wrapping of a bean-jam cake, rice ball, etc., by removing harshness from the leaf, and boiling the leaf in a solution containing a moisture-retaining lustering agent. CONSTITUTION:The leaf of bamboo grass, oak, etc. is boiled in water to remove the harshness, and then boiled in a solution obtained by mixing 100pts.wt. of water and =1pts.wt. pref. 1-10pts.wt. of a moisture-retaining lustering agent composed of a homogeneous liquid containing 1-30% of the extract of chlorella with hot water, 40-60% of starch syrup or decomposition product of starch, and 10-30% of propylene glycol, at 40-80 deg.C over a slow fire for about 5-70min. After boiling, it is allowed to cool and drained.
