摘要
Novel modified intact erythrocytes (MIE) contain allosteric effectors (AE) which are irreversibly incorporated with the aid of lipid vesibles. The AE are bonded to the haemoglobin in the MIE. MIE increase oxygen supply to tissues. They can be used for treatment of (1) reduced oxygen partial pressure in the respiratory tract (e.g. for mountain climbers and astronauts), (2) reduced oxygen exchange surface (redn. of the no. of lung alveoli due to pulmonary emphysema, (3) increased resistance to oxygen diffusion in the lungs (pneumonia, asthma), (4) reduced oxygen transport ability (erythropenia, anaemia, arteriovenous shunts), (5) blood circulation disorders (arteriosclerosis, thromoembolism, organ infarcts, ischaemia) and (6) increased haemoglobin affinity for oxygen (haemoglobin mutations, chemical modification of N-terminal aminoacids in the haemoglobin chain, e.g. diabetes, melitus, enzyme defects in erthrocytes). They can also be used for accelerating detoxification processes; for reducing the affinity of transplanted blood for oxygen (transfusions, shock states) and for improving radiotherapy of cancer. The MIE can be incorporated in blood or preserved blood, or can be administered intravenously in a carrier liquid.
