1. A methof for humidifying a web by guiding the web through a chamber which is sealed from the atmosphere and to which he susbtantially pure humidifying medium is fed at a saturated-steam temperature that is above the temperature of the web and from which the excess is abducted, the web temperature for setting the humidification intensity being controllable in dependence on the web humidity, characterized in that the humidifying medium is fed to the chamber at points which are distributed over the web width and in that there is added thereto, during the feeding process, an inert gas in dependence on a humidity profile measurement.
