A flame retardant thermoplastic compsn. comprises a thermoplastic polyester (I) and/or polycarbonate (II) and a flame retardant of formula (III): (where n is 2-20 and R and R1 are H or glycidyl). (III) has good colour stability, is not volatile, does not migrate and is compatible, with (I) and (II). (III) has little effect on the workability of composites neither raising nor lowering the melt viscosity much. The compsn. may be used for films and mouldings.
